Synopsis

My rating: 4 of 5 starsMy review (as published at Read, Run, Ramble):

Thank you Mulholland Books via Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book!

I was able to grab all the books currently available in this series from Netgalley (in preparation for the newest one, Hunt the Jackal, which published on May 13, 2014. Military Fiction isn't a normal read for me, but this series sounded intriguing so I decided to go for it!

First off, Mann’s experience, knowledge, and history with the SEAL team is apparent – the story feels authentic. Never overdone or pumped up for shock value. Even with zero knowledge I was able to dig into this novel without feeling lost.

Second, Thomas Crocker, the novel’s protagonist, is simply badass. He’s been around a while, he knows what he’s doing, and he follows his gut even when it goes against protocol. But he’s struggling with the people part of his life – his wife, his daughter, his friends, and even his team. Ah, a conflicted ‘hero’ to love!

Third, the writing is great and the story is thrilling and action packed. I've read a few reviews that seemed disappointed with the amount of action, but I thought it was full of it! Crocker finds himself in bind after bind while trying to bring down the bad guys.

Hunt the Wolf is a good start to the series and I’m looking forward to seeing what else Crocker and his team can get into.

I was provided with a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I am not compensated for any of my reviews.
