Water for Elephants is a fabulously crafted story. I was captivated at once and couldn't put the book down. Gruen brought the characters alive and I lived each moment of this tale! Readers will feel the authenticity in this work of fiction. Touching, funny, yet also gut-wrenching this book leaves the reader anticipating each page turn. Jacob and Marlena are lovable characters that a reader cannot help for which to root. The animals provide an amazing "supporting cast" that readers will adore and remember. I loved the ending...I can't imagine a better way for the story to tie up for Jacob!
