My review (as published at Read, Run, Ramble):
Thank you Steven Manchester for providing me a copy of this book!
Manchester writes so well – I love his words. Pressed Pennies is a perfect show of that. The words just flow throughout the story, pulling readers in.
Manchester’s touching and heart-warming story shows readers love – broken love, enduring love, complicated love, lost love – it is all in there. Relationships are Manchester’s forte, whether between family, friends, or lovers. Relationships aren’t easy, they aren’t cookie cutter, and they certainly aren’t one-sided and he captures all of that in this story (as well as his others).
Abby and Paige have some adjusting to do now that they’re out on their own and Abby’s ex-husband, Paige’s dad, is still drinking way too much. Abby’s old friend (and childhood crush), Rick is starting to realize that he’s let his priorities get way off track and his life is no longer something for which he feels proud. When the three come together they start to realize that sometimes just figuring out what’s wrong is only the tip of the iceberg and healing is never the easy part.
Going on this journey with Abby, Paige, and Rick was light, comfortable, and fun. If you’re looking for a good love story, a feel-good read, a read that will leave you smiling and happy – this is it.
I was provided with a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I am not compensated for any of my reviews.
