Collateral by Ellen Hopkins
This book grabs your heart right in the beginning and it squeezes - that's the feeling I had the entire time. Hopkins always evokes emotion and Collateral is no exception. She paints a picture of military and war and those involved both directly and indirectly that one cannot help but connect with even if never experiencing it personally. I say this in every review, but stress it again here - vehemently. If you haven't read Hopkins - do so now. She broaches the tough stuff and does it well. You cannot walk away from a Hopkins book unchanged - I promise.
