I'm just a girl on a mission - a mission to read many books, run (walk) many miles and ramble about it all!

My main blog is on Tumblr, and I also have companion Facebook, Twitter, and Goodreads pages.

The Never List by Koethi Zan

The Never List - Koethi Zan

Okay - Zan knows how to write a special kind of CRAZY!!

Sarah and Jennifer have been friends since elementary school. Now in college, they never take chances, they always follow the rules of the never list. A list of things the girls will never do because they present too much danger. They are safe, smart girls due to a fatal accident they endured as children. Yet one night and one decision takes them on the most horrifying journey of their young lives.

Jennifer and Sarah, along with two other girls kidnapped before they arrived, are held captive for three years. Sarah escapes, but Jennifer does not. 10-years after their escape, their abductor is up for parole and Sarah can’t let that happen. Recruiting the help of the other two girls who were captive while she and Jennifer were, Sarah sets out to ensure her tormentor does not go free. What she doesn't realize is that she is opening up a Pandora’s box of events and details that go much further than her time in captivity.

The Never List is full of authentic characters solving a mystery that is so bizarre that readers won’t want to stop reading until they have all the answers. The girls that do escape all suffer from their time in captivity differently – they've all moved on in different ways. It is easy to see how each of the scenarios would be likely based on their time and experiences in captivity.

This fiction tale isn't hard to imagine as a real-world scenario. However dark the material may be though, the author did a great job of ensuring readers get the full understanding of the girls’ situations without being graphic or gory.

Readers who enjoyed Gone Girl or are fans of psychological thrillers will love this book. Zan has woven a masterful, mind-scrambling tale.

I was provided an ARC copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I am not compensated for any of my reviews.
